Beancount-mercury - Beancount importer for Mercury Startup Checking

Overview

beancount-mercury

PyPI CircleCI License

beancount-mercury provides an Importer for converting CSV exports Mercury checking transactions into Beancount v2 format.

Installation

pip install beancount-mercury

Usage

Add the Mercury importer to your account as follows:

import beancount_mercury

CONFIG = [
    beancount_mercury.CheckingImporter(
        'Assets:Checking:Mercury',
        currency='USD',
        account_patterns=[
          # These are example patterns. You can add your own.
          ('GITHUB', 'Expenses:Cloud-Services:Source-Hosting:Github'),
          ('Fedex',  'Expenses:Postage:FedEx'),
        ]
    ),
]

The account_patterns parameter is a list of (regex, account) pairs. For each line in your Mercury CSV, CheckingImporter will attempt to create a matching posting on the transaction by matching the payee or narration to the regexes. The regexes are in priority order, with earlier patterns taking priority over later patterns.

Once this configuration is in place, you can use bean-extract to convert a Mercury CSV export of transactions to beancount format:

bean-extract config.py mercury-transactions.csv

See awesome-beancount for other publicly available Beancount importers.

    Version 6.3.1 — 2022-02-01

    • Fix: deadlocks could occur when terminating processes. Some of these deadlocks (described in issue 1310_) are now fixed.

    • Fix: a signal handler was being set from multiple threads, causing an error: "ValueError: signal only works in main thread". This is now fixed, closing issue 1312_.

    • Fix: --precision on the command-line was being ignored while considering --fail-under. This is now fixed, thanks to Marcelo Trylesinski <pull 1317_>_.

    • Fix: releases no longer provide 3.11.0-alpha wheels. Coverage.py uses CPython internal fields which are moving during the alpha phase. Fixes issue 1316_.

    Changelog

    Version 7.0.0 — 2022-12-18

    Nothing new beyond 7.0.0b1.

    .. _changes_7-0-0b1:

    Version 7.0.0b1 — 2022-12-03

    A number of changes have been made to file path handling, including pattern matching and path remapping with the [paths] setting (see :ref:config_paths). These changes might affect you, and require you to update your settings.

    (This release includes the changes from 6.6.0b1 <changes_6-6-0b1_>_, since 6.6.0 was never released.)

    • Changes to file pattern matching, which might require updating your configuration:

      • Previously, * would incorrectly match directory separators, making precise matching difficult. This is now fixed, closing issue 1407_.

      • Now ** matches any number of nested directories, including none.

    • Improvements to combining data files when using the :ref:config_run_relative_files setting, which might require updating your configuration:

      • During coverage combine, relative file paths are implicitly combined without needing a [paths] configuration setting. This also fixed issue 991_.

      • A [paths] setting like */foo will now match foo/bar.py so that relative file paths can be combined more easily.

      • The :ref:config_run_relative_files setting is properly interpreted in more places, fixing issue 1280_.

    • When remapping file paths with [paths], a path will be remapped only if the resulting path exists. The documentation has long said the prefix had to exist, but it was never enforced. This fixes issue 608, improves issue 649, and closes issue 757_.

    • Reporting operations now implicitly use the [paths] setting to remap file paths within a single data file. Combining multiple files still requires the coverage combine step, but this simplifies some single-file situations. Closes issue 1212_ and issue 713_.

    7.2.0

    pytest 7.2.0 (2022-10-23)

    Deprecations

    • #10012: Update pytest.PytestUnhandledCoroutineWarning{.interpreted-text role="class"} to a deprecation; it will raise an error in pytest 8.

    • #10396: pytest no longer depends on the py library. pytest provides a vendored copy of py.error and py.path modules but will use the py library if it is installed. If you need other py.* modules, continue to install the deprecated py library separately, otherwise it can usually be removed as a dependency.

    • #4562: Deprecate configuring hook specs/impls using attributes/marks.

      Instead use :pypytest.hookimpl{.interpreted-text role="func"} and :pypytest.hookspec{.interpreted-text role="func"}. For more details, see the docs <legacy-path-hooks-deprecated>{.interpreted-text role="ref"}.

    • #9886: The functionality for running tests written for nose has been officially deprecated.

      This includes:

      • Plain setup and teardown functions and methods: this might catch users by surprise, as setup() and teardown() are not pytest idioms, but part of the nose support.
      • Setup/teardown using the @with_setup decorator.

      For more details, consult the deprecation docs <nose-deprecation>{.interpreted-text role="ref"}.

    Features

    • #9897: Added shell-style wildcard support to testpaths.

    Improvements

    • #10218: @pytest.mark.parametrize() (and similar functions) now accepts any Sequence[str] for the argument names, instead of just list[str] and tuple[str, ...].

      (Note that str, which is itself a Sequence[str], is still treated as a comma-delimited name list, as before).

    • #10381: The --no-showlocals flag has been added. This can be passed directly to tests to override --showlocals declared through addopts.

    • #3426: Assertion failures with strings in NFC and NFD forms that normalize to the same string now have a dedicated error message detailing the issue, and their utf-8 representation is expresed instead.

    • #7337: A warning is now emitted if a test function returns something other than [None]{.title-ref}. This prevents a common mistake among beginners that expect that returning a [bool]{.title-ref} (for example [return foo(a, b) == result]{.title-ref}) would cause a test to pass or fail, instead of using [assert]{.title-ref}.

    • #8508: Introduce multiline display for warning matching via :pypytest.warns{.interpreted-text role="func"} and enhance match comparison for :py_pytest._code.ExceptionInfo.match{.interpreted-text role="func"} as returned by :pypytest.raises{.interpreted-text role="func"}.

    • #8646: Improve :pypytest.raises{.interpreted-text role="func"}. Previously passing an empty tuple would give a confusing error. We now raise immediately with a more helpful message.

    • #9741: On Python 3.11, use the standard library's tomllib{.interpreted-text role="mod"} to parse TOML.

      tomli{.interpreted-text role="mod"}` is no longer a dependency on Python 3.11.

    • #9742: Display assertion message without escaped newline characters with -vv.

    • #9823: Improved error message that is shown when no collector is found for a given file.

    ... (truncated)
